Local Miami Weather
Hallandale Beach is one of the “hidden gem’s” of South Florida and presents tropical paradise in a large city like Miami. As a beautiful beach community, it attracts a lot of professionals, tourists, families and investors. Being the most southern town of Broward County, Florida, it offers fast and easy commute options to and from the Miami area.
Named after Luther Halland, the son of a Swedish worker that worked on the Florida East Coast Railroad, it has grown to large proportions since it became known. Hallandale had no European population in the area until around the 19th century. Seminole Indians were those that came to the area first and established themselves before the European colonies started being placed. Halland, the owner of the land, a Swedish man, set up a trading post in the area and later invited others to bring their families and set up a new community. He was the first postmaster for the community, which allowed for new letters to be brought in and sent out from this and other areas around Florida and surrounding states.
By the early 1900’s the area had grown to be home for around a dozen of families. Swedish, English and African families all came together in the area to grow a larger community. The first school in the area was built in 1904 and the first church followed that by a couple of years. Primarily a community that was made for farming, the ocean was only used by those that lived in the area for recreational swimming and fun.
Incorporated into the municipality in 1927, it had electricity and street lights, as well as a population of around 1,500 residents by this time. It quickly went up in numbers and more in the coming years that followed and is now a larger, booming area that welcomes one and all to visit the shores of the beaches that are developed, the resorts by the beaches and more.
With a large population of around 40,000 residents, it is a city that continues to grow, expand and offer much to those moving there. With beautiful weather and plenty to offer the residents, everyone has a chance to grab a piece of the beach for themselves when choosing to live in the area.
The history of the area continues to grow, writing a page with each turning chapter. Enjoy being able to be a part of that chapter when you find the home you are after hiding within the many available. Hallandale Beach is a beautiful place and continues to be for so many that come to the area to enjoy all that it has to offer. You can find even more hidden within the history of the area when you move there and learn what else happened in the past.
