While 12,000 newly constructed homes were put up to house those that were new and coming to live in the area permanently. A part of land right by the ocean purchased by Young is named �Hollywood by the Sea� which he didn�t want to get confused with the land he owned in New York known as �Hollywood in the Hills.�

However, in 1926 a hurricane swept through the area and it damaged Hollywood tremendously. Additionally, Young passed away in 1934 and was not able to restore the city to what he envisioned in his plans.
